Hello I'm Barbara. I am a photographer and artist based in the medieval cathedral city of Salisbury in the south of England. In my photography practice I try to capture the 'sparkling moments' which bring joy to my day, and share them with others. I find that photography keeps me 'in the moment' and gives focus to my sometimes 'grasshopper' mind, making it a spiritual practice as well as something that I enjoy.
I delight in capturing a variety of different subjects but my passion is for discovering the ' sacred in the ordinary' to quote Kelly Rae Roberts. Finding beauty in a rusty piece of metal, or old piece of wood makes my heart sing.
Although I do show some monochrome pictures I am particularly drawn to colour and that is often what attracts me to a subject in the first place. I often favour the dramatic over the subtle and am inspired by theatre. in the future I plan to work more with the idea of 'story'.
During the last year when we have been moving house I have been struggling to keep up my photography practice and blog but now we have settled in I am hoping to change that although we do seem to have taken on more of a project than we anticipated!
.In the meantime its good to see you here.
